mission statement B.A.S.E.

Centered in the capital of China, the country in which 80% of all new construction in the world will take place in the next decade. B.A.S.E. (Beijing Architecture Studio Enterprise) provides a public and open space and forum for architectural education, training, dialogue, and production for students and professionals from both China and abroad. With a unique alliance of institutions of higher education and design and engineering firms and institutes around the globe, B.A.S.E. grants graduate degrees in architecture and training certificates for professionals in specialized design and construction topics.

B.A.S.E. provides a full and integrated range of architectural, urban design, project management, and engineering services to support the rapid growth of China with intelligent, thoughtful, and provacative design.

B.A.S.E. provides a public and open space of architecture in which exhibitions, experiments, discussions, performance, studios, cooperations, and projects will interrogate architecture and the city as it is changing in light of new forces and conditions of the 21st century. Modernism continues to emerge in the city that is an endless construction site, and the future is unknown. Proposals and hints towards solutions will require interdisciplinary conversation and cooperations and new integrated approaches to the development of work. B.A.S.E. will involve and implicate itself in foundations, roots, radicalism, and revolution. Its foothold (which will be allowed to slip and slide) is in both the deepest past and the most projective futures and questions.
